West California Academy of Art and Design and HuaXia Women’s Association co-sponsored the Live Bookmark Coloring Contest held at the 2018 Fitness Day and Health Fair event on November 18. In support of UNICEF, this art contest is organized by Rosemead Recreation Center and sponsored by HuaXia Women’s Association and West California Academy of Art and Design, providing a platform to young artists to showcase their talents, to pursue their artistic professionalism and to raise funds to help children in poverty via UNICEF’s charity program. 28 contestants participate in the 2-hour live bookmark art contest, and each contester is advised to donate $15 for the UNICEF. Each participant receives a certificate issued by the UNICEF stating that “when you support the UNICEF, you are joining the mission with the UNICEF in helping children in poverty for their survival and development.” This 2-hour live art contest raised $500 for the UNICEF. The contestants are divided into two age groups: under 8 years old and 9 years old up. Three winners are selected for each group. Every year students from West California Academy of Art and Design take active part in Rosemead Fitness Day and Health Fair Children’s Drawing Contest, a contest celebrating the importance of creativity and healthy lifestyle expressed through art.
