​On June 25, the faculty and students of West California Academy of Art and Design (WCAAD) provided voluntary service for the 2023 Thanks USA Celebration at Temple City Park.

Every year, the Academy Joins effort with IAPAC and AAAA to celebrate July 4th holiday and hold art activities including bookmark designing, coloring contest, face-painting, pin-making, etc.

In addition to offering art education programs for children, the WCAAD faculty have also been continuously taking time and efforts to provide voluntary public service for the community.  During the past ten years, The Principal Lei Wang, the students and the staff members have collectively contributed more than 6,000 hours to domestic and international public service

​Animation major Ashley McGinn will attend Art Center College of Design in the Fall 2023 with a Scholarship of $56,000!

​We are now calling for entries themed “Police” for 2023 August Art Exhibition held in San Gabriel Police Station. We will help raise funds for K-9 Bentley and K-9 Edy (the two police dogs of San Gabriel Police Department) by holding a charity sale of our students’ original artworks, and donate the high-resolution copies to the San Gabriel Police Department.

Students are encouraged to add K-9 Bentley and K-9 Edy elements in their art creations.

Deadline: Sunday, July 16, 2023. 

Each participant is advised to donate $20 for K-9 Bentley and K-9 Edy. The participant will receive a doll of K-9 valued $20 plus a Certificate of Contribution issued by the San Gabriel City. （Two dolls of K-9 for those donating $40）

On June 13, 2023, Mr. Omar and Ms. Wang took the students of in the portfolio class to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art for a well-rounded art educational encounter. Students studied artworks created in various art periods and assorted mediums. They looked at site specific work, installation art, traditional work, 3-dimensional work, and even art and technology.  Learners sketched and took notes on significant artist to get an eclectic encounters of art movements. In order to provide students with a thought-provoking art class, Mr. Omar provide them with more engaging art resources and a new educational experience outside the classroom, as well as, to encourage students to have extensive discussions with peers and the overall group. This day was focused on helping students understand the contextualization of art deeper through careful discussions.
