West California Academy of Art and Design (WCAAD) 2023 Senior Commencement was held on May 28 at the Academy’s San Gabriel headquarter. The 22 graduating students of the 2023 academic year achieved 100% admittance to the top-tier colleges with scholarship offers totaling Four Million Dollars! San Gabriel City Councilmember Tony Ding and Denise Manchaca congratulated the college candidates and presented the graduation certificates to the students. Lei Wang, the WCAAD Principal, thanked the parents for their consistent support to the Academy. “We are all happy to see that our students have had their dreams come true.” Lei said, “I am honored that you have placed your trust in our school, and I’m proud to have worked with you, joining efforts in cultivating our young children into confident, creative and successful artists.” Lei said that as she looked back on the year, she continued to be awestruck by the accomplishments of the graduating students who have achieved 100% admittance to their perspective colleges. “Such accomplishments have stirred as much pride in my heart as they have in yours.” Lei said to the graduates in her speech, “Wish you have a wonderful college life ahead and become an influential artist in your chosen field! Omar Gallegos, the WCAAD Vice Principal and Director of Education, also expressed his thankful feelings to the students. “Everyone here, I can truly say has passed the test demonstrating growth and perseverance.” he said to the graduates in his speech, “Keep striving to be the best that you can be. Don't just settle. Innovate with your design and creations. Now it’s your time to lead others and create change as we surly need it in these turbulent times. ” Omar said to the students that the Academy will always be a home to them and the instructors will always welcome them with open arms. “I am extremely proud of how you as a group came together as a team. A family of unique individuals that equally contributed something special.” he said, “Etch your name into the hearts who will listen because I promise I am, and I will. I will always welcome former students and love hearing your evolution as quickly you will become soon to be professionals.” Indeed, the 2023 class has made an impressive accomplishment in the college admittance. For example, Melissa Guo was admitted by six top-tier colleges with scholarships offers totaling $514,580;Vivian Lu was admitted by nine top-tier colleges with scholarships offers totaling $440,000; just to name a few. As the Academy also provides enrichment online art program that is as rigorous and nurturing as in-person classes, some students such as Simon Song from north California, Didi Fu from Kansas, and Yuki Gu from Georgia have already taken advantage of the fantastic online education with successful outcomes getting into prestigious colleges. Some students such as Jason Liu, Jonathan Chu, Ashley McGinn, as well as the twin sisters Isabella Dong and Felicia Dong started their art experience with WCAAD at a very young age, and now they all earned acceptance to their dream colleges. The students and parents expressed their gratitude from the bottom of their hearts to the Academy and the instructors for such valuable gift of art education.
