West California Academy of Art and Design Successfully Held Yorba Linda Branch Open House10/28/2018 WASC Accredited West California Academy of Art and Design Yorba Linda Branch successfully held an Open House on Oct 20th, 2018. The Open House activities included official school presentations and seminars on children’s art training program; free trial classes including creative drawing, handcraft, and sketching, etc.; a talk on education in the art and design and trending advancements in the fields for concerned parents and students; talk to art instructors; art workshops, class demonstrations and award-winning artwork exhibitions and gallery show. “The goal for the open house is to familiarize potential parents and students with the Academy’s diverse programs that are general and specialized, answering questions for students who are curious on how to proceed and have a fruitful experience in the Academy at any level.” Lei Wang, the President of the Academy, said. Ms. Wang said she was touched by the warm welcome from Yorba Linda community and parents. “Many students and parents told me that they had been waiting for us to open a branch in Yorba Linda for long time.” Ms. Wang said. Based in San Gabriel, California, West California Academy of Art and Design is widely recognized as one of the most professional children’s and youth art education institutions across the Southern California. Catering to community needs, the Academy opened its Yorba Linda Branch in September 2018. This bookmark design contest, held by the H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III Cultural and Art Museum in tandem with the Library of the City of Covina, CA (City of Covina Parks and Recreation Library Services Division), is held for the students who are currently in school. Over 200 pieces of art are collected from 37 cities in the LA and Orange Counties and they show the enthusiasm of the community. The theme of this bookmark contest is “Reading takes you everywhere”. That is, through reading, students’ creativities can be inspired, their talents can blossom, and their future can develop into boundless possibilities. The 2018 City of Covina Bookmark Contest hopes to not only enhance children's interest in reading, but also broaden their horizons on world’s cultures and history, raise their moral characters and become great citizens who can make contributions to their families, the societies and the country.
