Congratulations to Kejia “Viona” Huang on her way to Art Center 2023 in the Fall for illustration. Additional Colleges Accepted Include: SVA--School of Visual Arts Chapman University SAIC--School of the Art Institute of Chicago- Recognition Scholarship $76,000 UC Riverside Pratt Institute Since Viona arrived at our Academy, she demonstrated a talent that is exceptional. Viona’s ideas and executions have been enhanced through her determination to become a better artist technically through process and, the ability to generate and experiment with style. She completes her ideas fully with research and quality. Her creativity and passion for art, has propelled her to be active in class and engage the outside world in her endeavors. During her time at West California Academy of Art and Design, she has explored illustration, life drawing, and self-exploration. She has a knack for challenging herself with subjects that she may not fully understand or technically not ready for. Her perseverance is exceptional as she always surpasses these tests. She comes into projects with a proactive attitude succeeding her every venture. Further, she can balance her time through service and volunteering and an outstanding GPA. Viona has won the New York Times personal Narrative Contest with an Honorable Mention, which was the top 1% out of 11,000 submissions. She served in the Church Orchestra for 6 years and non-stop during the pandemic. She was active recording videos to play for everybody. Being a part of this Church Orchestra has been her longest commitment, has been the most important commitment. One great fulfillment in this young student her being able to teach kids from 1st to 3rd grade. Viona introduces kids to drawing and she will tell you she has learned from her experience in her own work and through her own journey in art. She is better and is a person who gives truly as she states, “I want to share my artist spirit with everyone, especially kids, as they might become future artists! All of them are very important to me.” Other activities include UCLA Virtual Drawing class. The School of Art Institute of Chicago oil painting class. AP Art History. Video Editing for church. Playing violin for orchestra voluntarily. Chinese Cultural History club(historian). Chinese Traditional Music Club(secretary)2022 NEW York Times Writing Contest.
