Congratulations to Chloe Wen on her acceptance in the Illustration program for CCA!
She received a scholarship of $30,000.
Chloe has been part of the Academy for about two years pre-pandemic where she pursued illustration and Entertainment Design. Initially she was accepted to Otis College of Art and Design in 2020 receiving a scholarship of $72,000 for 4 years, Laguna College of Art and Design and awarded a scholarship of $40,000, and Art Center College of Design.
This year, she came back to WCAAD, as she took a gap year deciding not to attend and wait on her college plans. Though she did attend Otis, graduating from WCAAD motivated her to continue working on her own. Certain circumstances held her back, but she never let go on her dream as an artist. Her social media was, and is, filled with current work and we were happy she could keep her enthusiasm going.
Her skills and talent have placed her into the top tier group of students. Her work demonstrates an evolution of understanding of form and mastery of her interest in the digital field. Chloe’s life drawing aesthetic and color is one of her best qualities. Returning to these classes I was impressed that she had the same ability and was not afraid to try various techniques. I felt she gained confidence and was ready for challenges.
This year, Chloe focused on refining her digital skills matching her formal training with a sense of exploration and particular storytelling. Life Drawing for Chloe was a crucial class to maintain and heighten her skill set as she was very interested in the figure with her work.
Painting, sculptures, and her continuing sense of creativity gained in the WCAAD program benefited her in the long run for a well-rounded aptitude. Her design sensibility was always well researched and her desire to put in as much effort to make a mark in her work really drove her passion for success. One of the best characteristics to see at WCAAD is great attitudes and Chole Wen is no acceptations. She has the drive skill set and support that will make her goals come to fruition.
This time around Chloe applied to one school and was accepted.
