The following art creation is based on the Chinese cultural story “Houyi Shooting Nine Suns.” Long long ago, there were ten suns in the sky and the world was being destroyed by heat. The ancient Chinese king Houyi used bow and arrow shooting down nine of them and since then the only sun rises very day to give people moderate warmth and light. Age, 6-8 For the themed artwork some students each drew a buddy to fight against the suns. One student chose a cool tiger to be his buddy. Some girls chose to draw themselves as “Houyi” because the art teacher told them girls can be heroes as well; and one student even turned the “Houyi” drawing into “a doctor shoots the viruses!”
