WCAAD Offers Free Art Classes Valued up to $400!

​West California Academy of Art and Design (WCAAD) is offering free art classes for students aged 8+ as the Lunar New Year gift. Each student can choose one the five offered courses to enjoy 4 sessions for free.
 
Enrollment Deadline: Jan. 31, 2024
 
Classes begin from Feb.1, 2024.

Note:
 
1. The age requirement for this promotion is 8 and above; 

2. Each student can only choose one of the five courses for 4 free classes; 

3. Students cannot choose courses that they have already been registered for classes. They can only choose a new course from the five for 4 free classes; 

4. Portfolio classes are not included; 

5. The 4 free classes must be completed within one month (i.e. within four consecutive weeks from February 1, 2024), and the class schedule for students to take the free courses must not conflict with the courses they are already taking. During the free course period, students cannot stop taking the courses they are already taking.

1. iPad 2D（Value $320），age：9-14 

​The software for this course is Procreate, which is great for beginners, but, can also be a great digital tool for advance students with strong foundation. At WCAAD we believe that skill building is confidence building and a way to challenge students while preparing them for 21st century art production. 

​The ease of utilization for younger students is attractive as they only need to use the brushes, possibly the eraser and color selectors. The variety of brush tools in Procreate makes it very easy to make something amazing with ease.

We have heard from pleased parents and students alike that children have continued to work with Procreate to complete assignments at school and or move into more advanced digital software like, Blender, Photoshop, Illustrator and others. Learning these digital tools develops a visual and technical vocabulary that also translates with ease into these advance medias in Adobe and other related media. This is problem solving and critical thinking at its best helping students visually express themselves creatively while taking other formal classes for a well balanced art and design education.
 
2. Sketching （Value $400），age： 12-14

​For many students, sketching is the core method to develop a personal visual vocabulary, hone observational skills, experiment with new techniques and explore new expressive possibilities.

The objective of sketching class we offer is to refine students’ perception skills, develop eye, mind, hand coordination, and build mental stamina, patience and tenacity through the process of drawing realistic three-dimensional still life objects.
 
 
3. iPad 3D（Value $320），age：8-10 and 11-14

​Children can use a powerful 3D sculpting and painting software-- Nomad sculpt-- to create digital models. The app offers a wide range of sculpting tools such as brushes for clay, flattening, smoothing, masking, etc., while maintaining a user-friendly interface.

​3D skills are highly demanded in various fields including movie, animation, game, VR/AR, architecture, business design, 3D printing, interior design, jewelry design, etc.

Tools prepared for the class----
 
Age group 8-10 years old： iPad air 3 up + Apple pencil.
 
Age group 11-14 years old：iPad with 4GB up RAM + Apple pencil.
 
 
4. Line Drawing（Value $320），age：9-11

​Line drawing lessons are very important for people of any age group, but especially in childhood development. The most important stage in cultivating youth art, is to train their ability to observe. This is especially true with line drawing class, because they truly begin to see and memorize the contours of forms. 

​Allowing students to truly see objects and understand the structures through their eyes can benefit their ability to flourish. They benefit by gaining long-term skills and develop a great sense of observation, recalling details evident from this practice, rather than copying artworks. In this way, students develop a unique style and interpretation producing original works. This can be fostered and increased through time, leading to artistic maturity. 

With observation and memory developed, imagination will secure progression into a holistic education. These three qualities developed, lays a solid foundation for children’s creativity, the most important aspect for children to acquire.
 
 
5. Cartoon/Anime （Value $320），age：9+

​The instructor will guide students through the creative process of Cartoon/Anime design, providing an interactive and learning platform for those passionate about Cartoon/Anime. By introducing prominent Cartoon/Anime artists and classic works, this course will not only help students gain a deep understanding of the development of Cartoon/Anime but also inspire unique insights into art and culture. 

​Furthermore, the course will explore the international influence of
Cartoon/Anime culture, guiding students to appreciate the uniqueness among different cultures.
