WCAAD Now Offering Online Intensive Art Classes for 2020 Summer

This year’s summer vacation is no longer the same as in previous years, and many students have to change their travel plans to “staying at home”. In order to help students and parents smoothly live through this year's special summer time, West California Academy of Art and Design has decided to extend the Half Price Online Class Policy to August 31. （Note：half price based on the original price instead of discount price when enrolled. No double discount.）

West California Academy of Art and Design Now Offers 2020 Summer Children’s Online Art Class and Portfolio Online Intensive Program from June 15 to August 31.
Some students have already taken advantage of the fantastic online classes with successful outcomes. The Academy encourages students who have not yet enrolled to participate in this enrichment program that is as nurturing as the in-person classes.  The Academy now offers 8-week Summer Intensive Courses and students will have more choices for their art education.

The virtual classes will help students create a colorful experience. No matter where you live and how far away you are from the school, now your children are able to take the art classes of West California Academy of Art and Design, the WASC accredited school. As long as you have Internet access, you can register the art classes for your children right away.

• The Portfolio Intensive (12-18+yrs.)- Create quality projects for high school, college, transfer and supplemental entry.

Courses include: Graphic Design, Fashion Design, Transportation Design, Product design, Entertainment Design, Animation, Illustration, UI&UX Design, Architecture/Urban/Environmental/Interior Design, Fine Art, Sculpture, Figure Drawing, etc.

The Senior Advanced Group (12-18+yrs.) Targets higher level fundamental skills building and hobbyist with various experiences in art methods with major based concentrations.

Courses include: Perspective, Color Theory, Sketching, Sketch & Imagination, Charcoal Drawing, Color Pencil, Pastel Drawing, Anatomy, Illustration, Acrylic Painting, Fashion Fun, Ink Drawing, Storyboard, Transportation Design, Animation, Drafting, Interior Design, Art Theory, Mixed Media, Pattern & Design, Drawing Interiors, Mosaic, Character Design, UI&UX Design, Digital Painting, Art Appreciation including Op Art, Abstract Art and Impressionism, etc.

• The Transitional Age Group (9-11 yrs.) -Emphasis on formal techniques and creative with material exploration including digital)

Courses include: Space, Three Dimensional Contouring, Perspective, Composition, Still Life, Figure Drawing, Animals, Landscape, Ink Drawing, Color Pencil Drawing, Pastel Drawing, Illustration, Color Pointillism, Creating Comics, Marker Rendering，Product Design, Transportation Design, Science and Art, Carton, Interior Design, Lap Drawing, Art Appreciation including Op Art, Abstract Art and Impressionism, etc.

• Children s Creative Group (age 6-8 yrs.) - Focuses on creativity and hands-on experience with art appreciation and mixed media.

Courses include: Imagination & Creation, Themed Drawing, Memory Drawing，默画，Drawing Journal, Color Practice, Water Color, Ink Line Drawing, Black & White Decorative Drawing, Color Pencil, Oil Pastel, Mixed Media, Abstract Art, Portrait Drawing, Recycle Art, Carton, Collage, Mosaic, Art Appreciation including Op Art, Abstract Art and Impressionism, etc.

• Children’s Beginning Group (3-5 yrs.)- Will focus on basics, craft, material and drawing

Courses include: Point/Line/Shape, Shapes, Colors, Drawing Materials, Line Drawing, Coloring, Crayon Drawing, Crayon with Water Color, Pointillism, Abstract Art, Self Portrait, Mixed Media, Still Life, Pet & Animals, Character Drawing, Landscape, Carton, Hand Art, Clay, Origami, Art Appreciation including Op Art, Abstract Art and Impressionism, etc.




WCAAD summers are magical times, as children ages 3-18+ immerse themselves in the arts—collaborating with many of the same extraordinary teaching artists who are professionals, dedicated and experienced providing excellent art education.
With multiple sessions to choose from, children have an opportunity to play, explore, and experience all at home through the online classes. Lesson can vary from painting murals, create a fashion illustration, painting imaginary worlds or incorporating music, science and math in their art works, the lessons will be as exciting as ever.

Now in its 30+ year of Art education, The Academy continues to adapt the program and curriculum to offer new ways to have meaningful interactions with students to create innovating ways of thinking through the Arts and build self-expression, research and exploration. Instructors share experiences and bring many inspirational teaching tools. 


Summer Courses and Workshops are designed to give students an equal measure of traditional art skills and spontaneous creative experiences. The syllabus of the Summer program follows the Academy’s standard core curriculum. In addition, WCAAD’s 8-week summer schedule gives students a rigorous and unmatchable concentrated experience in Art and Design.
WCAAD offers college-bound students a unique combination of practical expertise and mentorship to help them develop the skills, knowledge, and confidence to choose the right school for them – and get in! Multiple 3- hour classes catering to the student’s school requirement, time frame, and major or interest given various backgrounds and diversity.  Students will work one-to-one with faculty to develop an intense individual focused and disciplined-specific portfolio. Students can have a productive dialogue with an expert faculty member and fellow students.
