WCAAD offers 10-week intensified art training program from mid-June to mid-August. Five category groups available: Children Beginner Art Courses (3-5 yrs.), Children Creative Drawing Courses (6-8 yrs.), Transitional Courses (9-11 yrs.), Jr Advance (12-13+yrs.) and PORTFOLIO PREP (14-18+ yrs.). Various art practice and experience include outdoor sketching, art museum visits, art appreciation opportunities, art education movies, documentaries, and guests. Summer Courses and Workshops are designed to give students a rigorous and unmatchable concentrated experience in Art and Design, and the syllabus of the Summer program follows the Academy’s standard core curriculum. WCAAD summers are magical times, as students immerse themselves in the arts—collaborating with many of the same extraordinary teaching artists who are professionals, dedicated and experienced providing excellent art education. Summer Intensive Art Training & Summer School Program 2023 In-person & Online Timeline: June 5th---August 11th, 2023 Join our Summer School and high school intensive courses with flexible schedules. Our Academy offers Summer in-person and online course availability with full program resources. Children Beginner Art Courses (3-5 years old) focus on creativity and hands-on experience. Curricula include: understanding of dots, lines, shapes, black and white line drawing, crayon drawing, mixed crayon and watercolor, pointillism, abstract painting, impression painting, self-portrait, animal paintings, figure paintings, cartoons, pop art, arts and craft, foiled dolls, origami, art appreciation. Children’s Creative Drawing Courses (6-8 years old) focus on experimentation and material and skill development. Curricula include: association and creation, proposition painting, memory painting, painting diary, color practice, watercolor, pen line drawing, black and white decoration, color pencil drawing, oil pastel, mixed material painting, abstract painting, impression painting, portrait painting, environmental art, origami, pop art, cartoon, collage, mosaic art, art appreciation. Transitional Courses (9-11 years old) focus on general lead to advanced art, design, and digital introduction. Curricula include: space recognition, sketching, principles of design, composition, still life paintings, animal paintings, landscape paintings, pen paintings, water-soluble color pencil paintings, pastel paintings, illustrations, colorful dot paintings, comic creation, abstract painting, impression painting, markers rendering, iPad drawing, cartoon, pop art, origami, art appreciation. JR. ADVANCED ART (12-13+ years old) After 12 years old children begin to enter adolescence, marking the end of art as spontaneous activity. They strive to create "adult-like" naturalistic drawings with formal foundation, light, shadow, perspective, three-dimensionality, etc. Students at this stage will learn the Elements of Art and Principles of Design while developing professional drawing skills & basic digital media. Students apply visual organizational strategies to design & produce a work that clearly communicates information or ideas. For Summer, learners have various studio experiences in the classroom giving them opportunities for developing student’s formal foundation individual style and creative problem-solving skills for advanced studies. Curricula Available: Formal sketching, creative drawing, perspective, color theory, color pencil, pastel drawing, illustration, charcoal drawings, acrylic painting, pen drawing, landscape and interior art, art theory, mixed media, abstract painting, impression painting, pop art, pattern and design, mosaic, general design, digital art (PS intro), iPad drawing, anime and comic, art appreciation. PORTFOLIO PREP INTENSIVE (14-18+ years old) Portfolio preparation classes focus on creative portfolio for supplemental, college or college transfer. Curricula Available: fashion, product design, transportation design, game and entertainment design, animation, architecture, interior, and urban planning, model making, UX/UI, fine art, photography, film, perspective, color theory, college ready foundation, charcoal drawing, color pencil drawings, pastel drawing, figure drawing and anatomy, painting(oil, gouache, watercolor, acrylic), pen and ink drawings, typography , mixed media, pattern and design, interaction design, digital media, art appreciation, history and theory, pop art, abstract painting, impression painting, communication arts (illustration/graphic design), storyboarding, sculpture, 2D, 3D, crafts, printmaking, fieldtrips, comic, caricature and cartooning, anime, new genres …and more!
