West California Academy of Art and Design 2019 Summer Intensified Art Training Program & 2019 Summer Portfolio Preparation Class is now open for enrollment. Students signing up before May 1, 2019 enjoy an early-bird discount. The summer intensified art program runs June 10th---August 16th, 2019, 10 Weeks, Monday—Friday 8:00am--6:00pm. The syllabus of the intensive training program follows the Academy’s standard core curriculum, while students can take advantage of a summer tuition discount up to 50% off(portfolio class not included). Courses take place at the Academy’s 5 locations: San Gabriel Headquarters, Yorba Linda Branch, San Dimas Branch, Rancho Cucamonga Branch, Ontario Branch. The priority of this summer program is to give students a general fundamental understanding of art and design with their own choice of 1 week or a full 10 weeks of summer fun. In another words, students can choose a combination of any weeks catering to their specific needs. West California Academy of Art and Design strives to give students the environment and knowledge that develops their skills in a fun and positive experience. Summer camps include a wide range of creativity, skills, rigor, indoor and outdoor activities, and a range of materials and experiences that include art appreciation, history and theory included at any level. Since each camp includes a range of ages and skill-levels, campers are divided into smaller groups within camp, enabling counselors to work with their group at their creative skill level. Camps include: oil/acrylic paintings print making, crafts, watercolor, recycled sculptures, collage, mixed media projects, digital making, sketching T-shirt, tie-dye, mosaics, color theory, and many many more amazing projects. Camps also include lots breaks and outdoor activities, games, group and individual activities. 4 options available: The Portfolio Intensive (12-18+yrs.): Create quality projects for high school, college, transfer and supplemental entry. Portfolio Preparation Class Offering: Photoshop, Portfolio Prep Building w/ Activities/College/ Careers, Product Design, Entertainment Design/Animation, Graphic Design, Transportation Design, Life Drawing. West California Academy of Art and Design has a long history of preparing students for college and has a reputation for 100% admittance rate to top universities. The Senior Age Group(12-18+yrs.) targets fundamental skills building and hobbyist with various experiences in art methods, offering courses including Illustration, Mixed Media, Acrylic Painting, Transportation Design, Plein Air, Assemblage, Interior Design, Op Art, Mural, Impressionism, Visual Language, Anatomy, Industrial Deign, etc. The Junior Age Group (8-11 yrs.) focuses on creativity and hands-on experience with art appreciation and mixed media, offering courses including Sketching, Ink Drawing, Watercolor, Charcoal Drawing, Perspective, Animation, Architecture Rendering, Color Theory, Photoshop, Digital Painting, Fashion Illustration, etc. Children’s (4-7 yrs.) focuses on basics, craft, material and drawing, offering courses including clay art, T-shirt Design, Abstract Art, Printmaking, Surrealism, Pointillism, Collage, Line Drawing, Robot Factory, Felt Friends, Magic Creatures, My Knight Shield, Space Adventure, My First Birdhouse, Glitter Art, Puffy Art, Drip Art, etc. All of the instructors have professional backgrounds and most are year round instructors in the Academy. Summer courses and workshops are designed to give children, teens and youth an equal measure of traditional art skills and spontaneous creative experiences. Courses introduce the elements and principles of art (line, tone, perspective, color, composition) while encouraging personal expression and exploration and growth. Teen courses provide in-depth exploration of art materials and techniques, while further examining creative ideas through class discussions and experimentation and portfolio development. The goal is to build a foundation, self-confidence and have fun. West California Academy of Art and Design is the Supplementary Education Center/Program fully accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
