Three WCAAD Students Won the Assembly District 49 2023 Art Contest Awards

Annie Huang，Alice Zhang and Ariston Zhang from West California Academy of Art and Design （WCAAD）won awards at the Assembly District 49 2023 Art Contest.  Assemblymember Mike Fong presented the recognition certificates to the winners at the Rosemead Community Center on Dec. 4.

The theme of this art contest is “The Beauty of Our Community,” calling young artists to create works of art showing their favorite parts about living in Assembly District 49. Contest participants must live or go to school in the 49th Assembly District: Alhambra, Arcadia, El Monte, Monterey Park, Rosemead, San Gabriel, San Marino, South Pasadena, Temple City, and the unincorporated areas of Pasadena and San Gabriel. Over 100 entries were submitted.

Contest winners will have their artwork framed and exhibited in the State Capitol Office in 2024.

​Mike Fong, California State Assemblyman, made a congratulation speech and presented the recognition award to WCAAD Principal Lei Wang at the ceremony of the 50th Anniversary of Principal Ms. Lei Wang’s Career in Art Education held on Jan 8, 2023. 

On March16, 2023, Assemblymember Mike Fong recognized Lei Wang as the #AD49 "2023 Woman of Impact" Honoree for her unwavering dedication to Artists of all ages and to Community service.
