Chinese New Year 2024 falls on Saturday, February 10th, 2024, and celebrations culminate with the Lantern Festival on February 24th, 2024, making the Chinese New Year celebrations last up to 16 days. Chinese New Year is celebrated by more than 20% of the world. It's the most important holiday in China and to Chinese people all over. ![]() The Lantern Festival falls on the 15th day of the 1st lunar month. It is the first full moon of the new year, symbolizing unity and perfection. To some of the Chinese people, the “new” year “officially” begins after the Lantern Festival, and the Year of Dragon brings people hope of fortune and success. Red is China's favorite color and the Chinese decorate everything red for Chinese New Year. The Loong is not a real animal, but a created one with the features of 9 other different animals, a long, serpentine-like creature in Chinese mythology. China is the origin of the legendary dragon and the culture of the Loongs is deeply rooted in the minds of Chinese people. In sharp contrast to Western ideas about dragons, Chinese people, including overseas Chinese, all claim to be the descendants of the Loongs. Chinese dragons (Loongs) are a symbol of strength, good luck, and power. Dragon (Loong) is one of the favorite themes for our students’ art projects, especially at the Chinese New Year. Through art, children can absorb the perceptions of others. They become interested in other cultures, traditions, and lifestyles. The Dragon has an innate sense of spectacle and shining appearances. People born in the Year of Dragon believes that fate might have in retailer, whatever issues or hardships they may possibly encounter along the road, Dragons will always ultimately land on their feet. They'll be a success wherever they go, irrespective of their selected careers.
