9 students from West California Academy of Art and Design (WCAAD) won 2020 Multimedia Art Contest on COVID-19 Public Health Education themed “Creativity against COVID-19.” Emily Zhuo, 16 years old, 2nd Prize ($500 cash) In Emily’s artwork description she wrote: during this COVID-19 Pandemic the healthcare workers were among the many who were working for this country. Many more like delivery men, supermarket cashiers , police,pharmacists , firefighters , all remained on their spots in order to make sure we could obtain basic necessities like medicine,food and to also make sure we were safe . This artwork is to credit these Heroes for doing what they did during the pandemic. During this pandemic WCAAD instructors are conducting online classes with successful results. The instructors encouraged the students to produce artworks featuring people working on the front line amid COIVD-19 crisis. Through art creation the students expressed their respect and admiration to the health professionals and other essential workers who are risking their lives to support us. Due to the extension of school closures, at this time, WCAAD invites students who are not yet enrolled to participate and continue their education with the instructional team.
