As the Honorary President of WCAAD, Mr. Wang Shouzhi gives reputable lectures on Art Education at the Academy every year.
Mr. Wang Shouzhi is a world famous design theorist. Currently he is the tenure professor of Art Center College of Design and visiting professor of Central Academy of Fine Arts, China. Many of his publications on design have become textbooks and references in various China art and design colleges and universities.
“I have been teaching at U.S. art and design universities for over 20 years.” Mr. Wang says, “Many top schools actually conduct a knock-out procedure starting from the freshman year: students who are weak in creativity will have to drop out of the school. I’m glad to see that West California Academy of Art and Design always puts emphasis on student’s creativity.”
Rebecca Chu, 16 years old, won Rigolleto Student Art Contest with a scholarship of $1,000. She was invited to the opening night performance of Rigoletto on May 12, 2018 and the Cast Supper that follows the show at the Opera House.
Rebecca Chu is a dedicated student who has been at the West California Academy of Art and Design for about 10 years. Her journey began here at a young age, creating work that demonstrates her refinement of skills and creativity, throughout the years. Rebecca worked very hard to create a portfolio at West California Academy of Art and Design for entry into LACSHA in 2015. Currently she is working on a portfolio for college entry this coming year for Entertainment Designer/Character Animator.
