WCAAD Student Victoria Wang Admitted by 7 Top-tier College with Scholarship Offers Totaling $156,0007/31/2024 Victoria Wang will be attending RIT-Rochester Institute of Technology in the fall! Victoria will likely be an illustrator and is interested in the entertainment design field. Additional schools admitted: CCA California College of the Arts scholarship- $84,000/4 years; Otis College of Art and design scholarship -$72,000/4 years; University of Pennsylvania; UC Riverside; CS San Bernadino; CS Bakersfield. Victoria has been a great artist and student. Over these almost three years, I have witnessed growth and a self-realization of her own character and abilities she has refined to become college ready. Even though she demonstrated potential and great talent when first arriving to our academy, Victoria was stuck with a particular style that may have hurt her in the long run. As I began to work with her and got to know this learner, we discussed with her, the importance of learning new insights within art. She quickly adapted and had the foresight to change and grow rapidly. Her work took on a literal three-dimension turn that impressed our art community. She has been active in class, as well as with her involvement in numerous art-related volunteer activities. Through these activities, she has been able to interact and connect with diverse groups- special education teachers, homesick immigrant seniors, and city mayors in art related activities. No matter the cultural background or education level, Victoria believes that art can always bring something unique to people. I have seen her be more and more courageous taking risk where once she was very shy and reserved. She has been able to learn from various opportunities gaining a better perspectives and insights from like-minded people. From these experiences, I have seen her be more empathetic in communicating, while gaining various skills that will prepare her for the changing educational flux immersing with in the colleges. Though she has learned much software here like, illustrator, photoshop, procreate and others, Victoria self-educated herself and studied 3D modeling with Blender: She took it upon herself to learn Python to achieve better animation effects. Victoria has spent around 100 hours and had already mastered all the basic operations. These all played out to her advantage as she was able to help with the creation and promotion of a catalogue dedicated to kids with autism spectrum disorder and their art: This experience really inducted her to dive further into engaging in the arts and commit. She was sensitive to various stories which helped promote the collection. She even spent time tutoring kids in math. During a winter camp in UCLA extension: She explored economic concepts and acquired a basic understanding of personal entrepreneurship. She won a Volunteer President’s Bronze Award, Certificate of Appreciation for making the 2022 World Autism Awareness Day, Youth Art Exhibition Possible, a certificate of Excellence by the city, and a Certificate of Achievement in 2023 for the Lunar New Year Celebration event. Most recent, was the creation of promotional material for our first senior show at the gallery and helped with translating to bring more community awareness which took place November 12 of last year 2023. All this, while keeping her grades up and balancing various AP’s and honor classes. I am sure Victoria will continue to connect with outstanding individuals as she now can be very influential and inspire herself. Congratulations!
