Linda was a dedicated student who had been at the West California Academy of Art and Design for about two years. Her journey began with her passion for creating work that demonstrated creativity, energy and an adventurous experimentation. Her development in the Academy has been crucial in visualization and execution of form in her work, as she was and is eager to learn from various resources including her peers. Linda has demonstrated an increased production of sophisticated works and has gained admiration and respect among her peers. This is a true testament of what she has accomplished as she a child she revealed to me that she suffered a rare form of disease in fourth grade that still affects her today. However, Linda is and always has been a fighter and is a very happy soul that engages with the art world and art lifestyle. There was a time that Linda felt she was not ready and was going to wait a year to apply. It was a letter from UC’s that boosted her confidence and a conversation I had with her. “Let’s try” I told her. The UCs were impressed by her academic work, and I felt that she would be able to finish a strong portfolio. Work that was turned in would set the bar for the animation group. Her evolution is evident in her paintings, life drawing and digital skills. Linda is an amazing talent, and I see her wanting to improve and is never satisfied. She shows care, discipline, and experimentation and the fun she has with every work. Her use of color in her animations, and style, demonstrate new avenues of growth and exploration. In life drawing class, she has taken great leaps in realism and stylization. In trying various investigative approaches, she was able to grow fundamentally. She is committed to her craft and explores various mediums even ceramics. There is a craftsmanship from ceramic that carries on to her other works. Though she seems shy and introvert her sense of humor comes out in the works it is great to talk to her about her thought process and get to know her. She needs to be in an environment where she can thrive. “Creative, energetic, and adventurous best describe me because I am passionate about what I love, and I love to explore.” This how Linda best describes herself and I must agree on how her attitude about her endeavors carries her- inspiring our entertainment and animation group. Every project for her, must be of quality and refinement. Linda has extensive volunteer hours and won the presidential award of Silver for her service. She has joined diverse organizations and experiences such as ISOYA, contributing volunteer program hours as an educator working with young artist. She is a club leader and is president of the Chinese Club and has leadership roles in her school events. During the Summer of 2022 Linda participated in WECRE8, CEIA Social Impact Summer camp, CASC Summer Camp leadership camp communities at UC Santa Barbara. She is a recipient of the AP College Board scholar for her academic scores, and UC ELC program ranked 9 percentiles in class. She is able to work through all assignments and maintained a 4.0 and above and loves to play the Ukelele. Linda has been a star student and we can’t wait to hear from her again!
