With a spatial design degree, you can take on fresh challenges from branded retail and theme-driven dining to new hospitality, exhibition and residential design, all with an appreciation for empathy, sensitivity, equity, diversity and inclusion. Henry He’s passion has always been architecture. I can truly say his journey has been extraordinary and transformative. He has made great leaps on reaching competent abilities and skills for his major and passion-architecture. Henry’s profound impact on his peers has also been remarkable, as I have relied on him in class to advise the younger students as he is responsible, insightful, and helpful all around. I can also attest to his character and consideration for people in general. Henry’s traditional and digital skills have served him well enhancing this learner’design abilities for a more competitive outcome. He has designed various architectural sites keeping sustainability, comfort, and space in the forefront of his designs to better situate current trends and sensibility. I see him growing in college effortlessly as he will be better equipped and surrounded with like-minded professionals all around. Henry is excited for various continuing educational interactions and incorporated new ways of designing and enhancing his already love for learning. It was when gaining different techniques of drawings, and the processes of learning that was integral to Henry’s enjoyment, because it made him well adjusted to new perspectives when confronted different challenges. One project Henry worked on that was memorable, was when he worked on designing a bridge. Initially it failed due to his inexperienced when working with different materials. This failure demonstrated his character as he never gave up. He redesigned and showcased his risk-taking with material and mastering craftmanship. He was able to fix the problem and finish the project with better material and improving a well thought and researched based solidified concept. There is one story I can share; while on a community service at a community center event, Henry’s job was to guide the audience and introduce them to the show, but an unexpected occurrence when a child had lost his parents at the event. After taking care and making sure he was ok, he went out of his duties to guide the young child to the original place where he lost his parents and waited with him patiently. Potentially losing out on his job. Yet, for Henry, this child’s well-being meant more to him than this job. Thankfully not too long, his parents came back. Henry will go out of his way to make everyone feel comforted and puts time to make sure everyone around him feels safe. Not only is he a great student, but also has a great heart always thinking of others. Outside of school and the architecture major, Henry is passionate about photography. According to him, he loves capturing blurry moments but the breakdown of pixel by pixel revealing the truth through a camera lens. He is also influenced by his grandmother and father, since his grandmother is a photographer, and his father has extensive knowledge sharing their passion for photography. I believe Henry will give every effort to create strong bonds, while creating unique designs and more so an asset to already reputable Art Center program. We support Henry with great enthusiasm as he ventures off!
