An also received acceptance and scholarship to: Ringling College of Design $80,000 Scholarship/4 years CCA -California College of the Arts $108,000 Scholarship/4 years SCAD- Savanah College of Art and Design $32,000 Scholarship/4 years RISD -Rhode Island School of Design An Liu came to our Academy in search of a strong education and competitive portfolio. This student did not disappoint and delivered while finding along the way, a unique personal style. Demonstrating natural talent, this exceptional creative individual produced elaborate design concepts. I recall fondly how An inspired the younger classmates with masterful drawings in illustration and the life drawing classes. This artistic maturity and evolution is evident in each learner with process, style, and a connection to their audience. I strongly believe in a personal voice in construction of theses portfolios. An’s creativity and passion for art, has propelled her to be as active in class and engage with the art world in different venues and lectures. She seeks endless amounts of reference and desires become a respectable artist. After Summer of last year, An was here 5 times a week trying to finesse the portfolio presentation. An has done more of what I have asked without question. The style and a gestural mark have guided An to new avenues of growth and exploration of materials. Great leaps have been taken in life drawing in trying different techniques and investigating line quality and mark making, while at the same time producing accurate figural studies. In other classes concept art are exemplary. Overall, An creates work that demonstrates natural talent, refinement, and creativity. The final result is a culmination of increased sophisticated works and is considered a leader amongst peers. Students rely in our learner as an example and source for true work ethic. They know that the work that is turned in by our young artist, will set the bar for the classroom. An’s career goal is to become a concept designer for games and/or films. She is looking forward to taking her technical artistic abilities further and getting to know people who can push her to develop solid skills. Our designer inspires others and is bold with challenges and wants to push against conventional standards. In her work, An’s philosophy is that-“the grotesque and bizarre, have a reason to exist and deserves to be appreciated.” An is an amazing talent and I see this student wanting to improve and not solely rely on just talent. Committed to make an impression professionally, An has showcased work, volunteered at school events, and won various competitions. Every project must be of quality and refinement. Showing care, discipline, experimentation and patience, the use of color in various projects is impressive with a contemporary flare. In her extra curriculars, An has dedicated volunteer hours on weekends for the past few months to help with handing out pamphlets at fairs, assisting with the workshops, and creating a positive environment and more! Always finding new ways to put learned skills to good use, An loves sharing and giving back to the community at large. I see An adapts to her environments and has a keen sense when it comes to visual arts, literature, and mathematics. Last high school year, her artwork received first place in storytelling on a on-campus art show. Elated, this was she felt a true affirmation that people were interested in the narrative of her works. This only intensified her desire to be a great designer. She always turns her struggles into motivation and overcomes obstacles. An has been a stellar student and we expect great things for her bright future.
