Angel has been a student at this academy since she was 6. Since then, I have witnessed a motivation and a desire to become a better artist and person all around. Angel has a unique vision, and she is ready to share this with the world. She is able to memorize many things with ease and be critical when dealing with societal issues in her work. She is open minded and empathetic, able to see things from many different perspectives and views. Angel has a strong wish to introduce new concepts and worlds through her designs, an according to her- “I want to redefine the idea of hero”. She would like to open the door for female or non-gendered character in the Entertainment industry for more equity and the under-represented. Angel creates work from a necessity and a need to create an alternative mind set for her viewers. In her concept art, she wants to push the status quo and question gender roles. Art for her is a lifestyle and she wants her art to be in tune with societies zeitgeist. She wants to take authorship and is very motivated. In her time here, Angel joined many competitions, created a team with her peers, and led all seniors to our first senior show. Not only did she organize, created marketing, and promoted show, but also initiated a campaign for a senior mural. As her mentor I have been able to see her development in her traditional and digital skills as she assists other students. She sets an example for others to follow. Angel has been able to produce solid works and is skilled with traditional media as well as Procreate, Photoshop, Illustrator and Blender. Her work in life drawing has been amazing to see as she struggled with anatomy and the figure to then mastering these setbacks. She never quits and is an admirable characteristic she displays. I have seen her be more and more independent and able to be vocal with her comments have potency and carry conversations with both a critical and positive effect. She has been able to learn from various ventures and opportunities gaining insights from her experiences. Angel’s love and influence in music stems from taking piano lessons since elementary school and joining the school band. She does extensive research in the classics and in art history, developing her appreciation and admiration. These inspirations often find themselves in her art. Angel wishes to learn and gain more interpersonal skills from the college experience and to take the opportunity to enhance her creative and artistic abilities. We. Are sad to let her go but I am happy to have worked with such a unique talent.
